Hard work always pays off. If you want to achieve success, you have got to put in the effort.
The young man knew it as he knelt down to pray. He had worked hard over the years, putting in the required effort, and now – success was at hand.
It had been a couple of years since he’d started out, but even before that, many years of preparation filled his life, and now he had finally arrived where he needed to be.
He remembered his time spent working – the sleepless nights, the days without food, the endless hours of traveling.
He remembered his friends, those who had surrounded and supported him, and stuck by him even when they didn’t really understand his vision. They were inspired by him, and wanted to join him on his road to triumph.
He remembered his hometown and his neighbours – the ones who laughed at him and claimed he had gone crazy, and that his plans would lead him nowhere.
But despite the mockery, despite their doubts and insults, he had made it.
Though many did not believe in him, he had reached the focal point of his destiny.
It was all for this.
He had toiled and persevered, and victory was finally at hand.
He looked at all the people around him from his elevated position.
His uphill battle had paid off. He had achieved his goal.
Success! Victory! Just a few moments from his grasp…
…and it was his.
He looked again at the people around him – still mocking him, still hurling insults at him.
And as he looked at them from the cross he was nailed to, as he finally reached the end – his end, and his goal – he exclaimed,
Revolutionary thought on the mission of the Redeemer. Alas, only a few among the millions will understand it and much less will imbibe it. May the Holy Spirit enlighten all.
